Litton

A little gem of a White Peak village with a pretty green set in glorious countryside.

A mile east of Tideswell the close-knit community here forms a character typical of the limestone villages. At the heart of the village is the green with its' old stocks, surrounded by pretty cottages, the school, a village shop and the pub. The village developed from farming and lead mining and Litton Mill down in the nearby Millers Dale was an early cotton mill.

Things to do; The village comes to life for its' annual Well Dressings and Fete in late June early July, at other times it is popular with walkers taking in the delights of the surrounding dales. The Red Lion is a fine old inn and the shop is run by a co-operative of residents.
