Old Smithy Tearoom

The Old Smithy is a licensed tea-rooms and shop which are located in the beautiful village of Beeley. Beeley is one of the Chatsworth villages sitting on the edge of the Chatsworth estate in the heart of the Peak District. It is a picturesque village with fabulous walking and cycling routes. If you are looking for somewhere to rest your weary legs or fancy a nice lunch out the Old Smithy is for you.

All food is freshly prepared using local produce and suppliers. Wherever possible everything is baked and prepared on site from the cakes to the crisps and chips. We take great pride in sourcing our produce from local suppliers to ensure it is fresh and of a high quality.

Faye and her team offer a particularly warm and friendly welcome with great emphasis on good food and good service. Even if you are just passing for a drink there is a selection of loose leaf teas, delicious coffee and cold drinks available.
I became the owner of The Old Smithy on 3rd of August 2012 and we opened on the 22nd of August 2012. When I took over the business we started from scratch, we have decorated, installed a new kitchen, new equipment, furniture and new fittings. It was a very tight schedule but I was eager to get it going again as many local residents had told me how much they had missed it. It would not have been possible to get everything ready without the magnificent help and support of my parents and friends. They worked around the clock to ensure that the tea rooms were as presentable as possible. I am sure you will agree they have done a lovely job!  We have worked very hard.

Owning a business, such as this, has been a dream of mine for some time so when I was made aware of the opportunity I jumped in with both feet! I have left my professional career behind for the time being to fully concentrate on the business and create a warm inviting environment that serves superb food. I have found a fantastic chef who would be happy to speak to you if you have any questions or requests. We both have a strong commitment to using good quality, locally sourced produce wherever possible.

I also believe in promoting local businesses; the tables are hand made in Derbyshire as are some of the chairs, and we have used as many different local businesses to help us fit out the tea rooms and shop. All of them have been brilliant in helping us refurbish the premises in the short amount of time we had and as a Derbyshire girl, born and raised, I am proud to be able to showcase so many different.

▪ Parking is available within Beeley village. There is level access into the café and there is an outside courtyard seating area – perfect for sunny days! An accessible toilet is available.
