Accessible Derbyshire were guests at the Inclusive Heritage conference at Tate Modern in London today.

Highlights of the day included presentations from Dr Tom Shakespeare and Esther Fox, a performance by Corali: a group of performers with learning disabilities plus the screening of a new Heritage Lottery Fund film on Inclusive Heritage and much more.

The afternoon saw conference attendees taking part in one of four workshops on key aspects of inclusive heritage including inclusive design and effective communication strategies for all.

Gillian explained that: "We were honoured just to be invited to the event: to learn from the speakers and other delegates and to share our experiences in Derbyshire. One of the key elements we contributed was the need for the provision of Changing Places facilities at key heritage sites to make them truly inclusive for all. This was taken on board by Heritage Lottery Fund leaders who pledged to explore the need for and provision of Changing Places further."
