Heritage Lottery Fund presentation on Changing Places

The 'dynamic duo' from Accessible Derbyshire were in London today to give a presentation on Changing Places to the Heritage Lottery Fund's (HLF) 'Disability Advisory Group'.

The presentation followed an invitation from Iain Bailey, Head of  HR, Learning and Development at the Heritage Lottery fund. Iain met Gillian and Jane at last October's 'Inclusive Heritage' conference at Tate Modern in London where the pair they raised awareness of the importance of Changing Places toilets as a key enabler for accessible tourism.

In addition to those able to attend the presentation in the room HLF staff were also able to watch the presentation through video conferencing form a number of locations throughout the UK and Ireland.

The 45 minute session covered what Changing Places are, who needs them and why and emphasised the need for Changing Places in opening up a world of opportunities for the 250,000 people in the UK who need them as well as their families, friends and carers.

Jane commented that: "We were absolutely delighted with how the session went. The people from the Heritage Lottery Fund were genuinely interested in Changing Places and really understood the need for them. They asked lots of really valuable questions and were keen for HLF to incorporate Changing Places into their considerations when determining which projects they should fund in the future."
