Music in the Gardens collection raises £492 for Accessible Derbyshire

Well, the rain may have fallen but it certainly didn't dampen the spirits of festival-goers at this year's Music in the Gardens at the Botanical Gardens, Sheffield.

This annual event, held over 4 nights by the Rotary Clubs of South Yorskhire and North-East Derbyshire to raise funds for eight local causes. This year Accessible Derbyshire was chosen to be one of those lucky charities.

A team of volunteer collectors braved the elements on the first night of the festival which boasted James as the headline act, supported by up-and-coming Sheffield band The Sherlocks.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of the audience the bucket collections on the night raised an incredible £492 each for our very own Accessible Derbyshire and Cruse: the bereavement counselling charity.

The eight charities being supported this year will also receive a share of the profits from the 4 day event later in the year.

We would especially like to thank:

the Rotary Clubs of South Yorkshire and North-East Derbyshire for choosing to support us, our hardy team of volunteers (Wendy Westlake, Catherine Brown and new Accessible Derbyshire trustees Kay Wood and Donna Hardwick) for giving up their time to help sell programmes and to go round with collection buckets, to Ben the Busker for entertaining the queues waiting to enter and to the generous audience who dug so deeply to support our two local causes.Every penny you have given to Accessible Derbyshire will help us to ensure that the beautiful part of the world in which we live can be enjoyed to the full by everyone.

Gillian and Jane.
