Carefree Breaks - Can YOUR business help?

At its inaugural awards evening on 15th October Accessible Derbyshire launched a brand new scheme to give carers a break.

The scheme called 'Carefree Breaks' asks local hotels and businesses to donate a break for carers who desperately need it. The New Bath Hotel and Spa at Matlock Bath was the first hotel to sign up to the scheme donating two nights dinner, bed and breakfast for two at this luxurious, newly-refurbished hotel in the heart of Derbyshire.

The recipients of these first two breaks were Jenny Hands and Jackie Solaiman who recieved the breaks at the awards  evening from Jane and Gillian.

Accessible Derbyshire co-founder Jane Carver explained that:

"Having spent many years as full-time carers both Gillian and I know the effort and hard work that goes into the role. No matter how much we love the person we care for or how rewarding that role can be carers do need, and deserve, a break from their caring responsibilities from time to time. From the time we launched our charity in 2015 we have always been determined to make that happen and we are so very grateful to the New Bath Hotel and Spa for their generosity in getting the scheme off to such a great start."

Co-founder Gillian Scotford continued to say that:

" Our charity is not just about making Derbyshire accessible for disabled people: it is also about making it more accessible for the families, friends, carers and companions of disabled people which is what makes the Carefree Breaks scheme a key part of the work of Accessible Derbyshire."

The charity now wants to hear from anyone who is able to donate a break or a treat for carers who desperately need it. They also want people to nominate full-time carers to benefit from the scheme.
