World Changing Places Day Challenge!

In 2016, Accessible Derbyshire initiated National Changing Places Awareness Day on 19th July.

This year we are going one step further to make 19th July, 2018 World Changing Places Day!

For the 250,000 people who need Changing Places Toilets, every trip out can feel like climbing a mountain. So to mark World Changing Places Day we will be climbing a mountain with a Changing Places toilet!

Details:

Join us at 11.00am on Thursday, 19th July at Mam Nick Car park, Hope Valley, Hope Valley S33 8WA for the climb to the top of Mam Tor, arriving at the summit at 12.00pm.

At the top there will be a photo opportunity plus a short Changing Places awareness session and we will be carrying with us all the kit that makes a Changing Places toilet special: an adult-sized, height-adjustable changing bench, a hoist, loo, sink and privacy screen!

There are approximately 200 steps to the summit, with grassed areas to either side in most places.

The route is not wheelchair accessible so the Peak Park have arranged a fabulous accessible alternative:

Accessible Alternative:

Meet at Castleton Visitor Centre at 11am, 1pm or 3pm to set off for a stroll or a roll along the new Miles without Stiles route. Alternatively, head directly to Peak Cavern for the tours which start at 11.30am, 1.30pm or 3.30pm. The tours are 30 minutes each and cost £5 per person.

The route is one which explores the passageways of Castleton and takes you along the river to its source and to one of the wonders of the Peak District: the largest natural cave entrance in Britain. It is a direct route from the Visitor Centre in a location where many already come to visit  and the cave tour provides the opportunity to experience the perspective of looking out and finding out about the ropeworks and Castleton in times gone by.

The fabulous Mobiloo Mobile Changing Places toilet will be on-hand at Castleton Visitor Centre Car Park during the day, which provides a fantastic opportunity to get out and about and explore our fabulous part of the world.
