Ashbourne and Rosliston Forest
As you drive to South Derbyshire for a day out at Rosliston Forestry Centre, it is nice to call at the fine old market town of Ashbourne for morning coffee. Ashbourne is an attractive town with more than 200 listed buildings, fine coaching inns and mellow-bricked town houses. A changing places toilet is situated in the library.
The lower part of Ashbourne is flatter and the nearby park is a pretty place for a stroll. The olde worlde buildings can make access difficult but it is nice to take a stroll. Ashbourne has a great leisure centre with an accessible swimming pool. As you leave Ashbourne, The Fairways Garden Centre and the upstairs Garden Room Cafe is fully accessible and is situated off the A515 as you leave Ashbourne heading south towards Sudbury.
Rosliston Forestry Centre, Burton Road, Rosliston, Swadlincote, DE12 8JX, is the perfect day out for all the family to have fun. Woodlands, meadows, fishing, ponds, play areas, tramper, cycle, wheelchair hire, accessible trails: you name it: they’re all here! You can also enjoy Falconry, the sensory garden and the cafe/restaurant with log burning stove. New playground equipment featuring a wheelchair trampoline, archery for the blind plus a changing places toilet facility make Rosliston a day out for everyone.
Fully accessible lodges are also available and one has a new extra wide electric profiling bed.
