Bamford, Stannage & Hathersage

Starting point : Yorkshire Bridge Inn.

Take the road towards Bamford A6013.  After a short distance, turn left into ‘New Road’.  This climbs out of the valley with lovely views over the rolling countryside.  At the junction, turn left, joining ‘The Clough’ (if you turn right it drops down into Bamford).

Drive until you meet the junction and keep left joining ‘Long Causeway’.  This continues and has dramatic views underneath Stannage Edge.

As the road curves, ignore the turn to the right and continue on.  Car parks to admire the views are at various points along this route, with a picnic spot at Hollin Bank car park.

At the junction, the road is known as ‘The Dale’.  If you turn right, it drops down into Hathersage.

I prefer to turn left, joining Ringinglow Road as within a very short distance as the road curves, you meet one of my favourite places in Derbyshire for the best sunsets – Upper Burbage Car Park and view point.

At this point, turn around, drive back onto Ringinglow Road and take the right turn ‘The Dale’ and this leads back into the centre of Hathersage
