Sport Development

In case you didn’t already know we have our very own disability sport development officer here in Derbyshire.  His name is James Cook and he’s keen that as many disabled youngsters as possible get stuck in and enjoy everything sport has to offer.

James is keen to tell people about a number of disability groups running across the country that meet up to see how they can improve sport for disabled people.

As well as parents, carers and volunteers, the groups also include representatives from local schools and councils.

James, who has been doing his job for 16 months, says: “The groups are a really good way of raising the profile of disability sport at a local level.

“Parents are welcome to attend the meetings to help make a difference”.

People can get in touch with James to chat more generally about disability sport where they live.

James adds: “I would like to encourage parents and carers to contact me if they would like to learn more about disability sport groups.”

Anyone who would like to find out more about the groups – when and where they meet – should contact James Cook on 01773 571223 or email him at james.cook@derbyshire.gov.uk
