Sudbury Hall was once the country home of the Lords Vernon and is a delight of 17th-century craftsmanship. Here you can marvel at the exquisite plasterwork, Grinling Gibbons wood carvings and classical story-based murals. There is the grandeur of the Great Staircase and Long Gallery to enjoy (The interiors of Sudbury Hall were used in the BBCs 1996 adaptation of ‘Pride and Prejudice’!}and the contrasting intimacy of the family rooms and 1930’s kitchen.

The Museum of Childhood at Sudbury allows you to explore the childhoods of times gone by, make stories, play with toys and share your childhood with others. You can be a chimney sweep, a scullion or a Victorian pupil, and be captivated by archive film and interactive displays. The Museum has eight galleries celebrating the escapades and challenges of childhood in a whole new way. You don’t have to be young, only young at heart to enjoy the adventure.

There is a gift shop where  you can treat yourself to home-made fudge and other local products. There is also the Coach House Restaurant where you can take a break and enjoy home-made scones and cakes.

With both the hall and the museum in one location this is really two days out in one!
